The Original Power Cookie Sponsors the Radcliffe AC 3 Day Event July 10th 11th 12th

The Original Power Cookie was pleased to be able to provide the winners of the 3 day event with some well earned cookies.

The event takes place over 3 days and there are 3 different disciplines of races - Thursday evening - Fell Race, Friday evening - Cross Country, Saturday afternoon - Trail Race.

The sun was shining for the first event on Thursday evening. The race starts in Hawkshaw, Bury and is 5.5 miles in distance and has a total climb of 1100 feet. At 7:30pm prompt the race was underway and some 209 runners raced their way towards Bull Hill. The race was won by Chris Farrell (Horwich RMI Harriers) in an astonishing time of 33:21 and the first lady home was Catherine Slater from Preston Harriers in 43:10

The second event on Friday evening saw  the cross country race start at the ‘Giants Seat’ Scout campsite. The format for this was a 4 lap race around a challenging woodland circuit. The heat an humidity was a deciding factor on how easy or difficult the race was to be. 59 runners started the race and it was won by Matthew Clark from Swinton Running Club in a time of 32:46 and the quickest lady was Donna Cartwright from Bury AC in 42:20

The final race on Saturday afternoon was to be equally as challenging with the heat and humidity returning. A 5 mile trail race following the banks of the canal and finishing at the Radcliffe Athletic grounds. Another victory by Matthew Clark from Swinton Running Club saw him cross the line in a blistering 30:10. A time of 35:35 saw Jane Riley as the first Lady home.

But the overall 3 day event was won by Matthew Clark as the first male and Shona Monks as the first female. Our very own athlete Al finished in 31st place overall.

Our congratulations to everyone who took part and especially those who completed all 3 of the races. An excellent event and well organised by Radcliffe AC.
